A graduate in medicine from Nicolaus Copernicus University, he also attended clinical rotations at the University of Oxford, Imperial College London and Harvard Medical School.

Member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and European Association for Vision and Eye Research. Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology.

Recipient of European Society of Ophthalmology Educational Grant, the Lanckoronski Foundation scholarship, the Foundation for Polish Science grant, Step into the Future scholarship.

Member of the Medical Physic Group that designed and constructed the first fourier-domain optical coherence tomography instrument for in vivo retinal imaging.
